The New Forest is an ideal place to spend a weekend out, whatever your style! With 220 square miles for you to explore, the possibilities are endless. Created by William the Conqueror in 1079, the New Forest is home to swaths of land that have remained virtually untouched by humans for centuries.

Explore the forest on foot or on cycle on one of the many paths that wend their way through the forest. New Forest is also a sanctuary for animal lovers. There are many trails available for horseback riding, as well as ample opportunity to sight natural wildlife.

The New Forest is home to many rare and diverse species, though if you want a closer look, head to the New Forest Wildlife Park. A collection of native and past-native wildlife, this conservation centre is the UK’s leading institution for rescuing and rehabilitating ill and orphaned wild otters! They also run several breeding programs for species in danger of extinction, giving you the opportunity to see some of the rarest animals in the world!

Visit one of the many charming village hamlets to step back in time where locals retain many rural practices handed down from their ancestors. The best way to explore is through the open-top bus service that takes you through the park. With historic houses, museums, sandy beaches, and a plethora of parks and gardens, you will always be entertained during a day out in the New Forest. There’s even an amusement park with rides for kids!

If you decide to stay longer, it is easy to stay for a weekend or a week. With everything from charming country cottages to high-end hotels, everyone is sure to find something that suits their needs.
