Photo: Lakeland Miniature Village

See Cumbria in all its glory, but in miniature! Over 100 buildings made from local Coniston slate were carefully constructed to build the houses, farms and barns that all make up the Lakeland landscape. Complete with water features throughout the model village, children will delight in the unique size of the perfectly and realistically formed buildings.

Typical Cumbrian houses and farms are included in the village as well known dwellings such as Hill Top, the home of Beatrix Potter. There is also a replica of Slater’s Bridge, complete with the adjoining Clapper Bridge measuring 50 ft long.

No machinery is used in the construction of the buildings or features; each one is lovingly and carefully crafted by Edward Robinson who only uses hand tools. The village is a work in progress and has been growing steadily over the past 16 years. It will be several years before it is fully complete, giving you a reason to come back and see how the miniature Lakeland is coming along.

Each property has its own garden, and many of them can be seen to show signs of day-to-day life, a tractor in the open barn, or disused wheels propped up against an owner’s wall. The details gone into each and every section of the village will charm and amaze you, as well as highlighting the essence of Cumbrian life.
