Set in a unique Victorian maritime warehouse, Craft in the Bay shares an establishment with the Makers Guild in Wales. This is one of Cardiff Bay’s must-see attractions and is extremely popular with visitors.

The Makers Guild in Wales is a charitable organisation promoting craft and applied art as both a way to preserve skills and educate young people. It also represents around 75 Welsh craft makers.

Craft in the Bay offers you the unique opportunity to have a look at a huge selection of arts and crafts made by the members of the Makers Guild in Wales. Displayed in a spacious and light gallery, you can also purchase items that you’ve fallen in love with.

The craftwork showcased there is of the highest standard and encompasses a whole range of skills and traditions. These range from jewellery and ceramics to bespoke furniture and intricate metalwork.

The modern exhibition area regularly hosts exhibitions of international and national artists’ work. It is also available for educational establishments to use to present their students’ work to the public. Keep an eye on the website for details of what’s on as the exhibitions are definitely worth going to.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite indulging in all of the arts and crafts on display, head on down to Kemi’s Café for a hot or cold snack to eat in or take away.

If you’re planning a birthday surprise, hen do or something similar, Craft in the Bay offers a range of fun workshops from speed knitting to pottery. The workshops usually run from 1 to 3 days so are perfect for a weekend activity if you’re staying in the area.
