St. Ives has always had a reputation for art due to the number of artists that have migrated to the beautiful seaside over the centuries. There is no better place where this is represented than Tate St. Ives. Part of the recognizable Tate collection of galleries, this small, intimate gallery is a must-visit for modern and contemporary art lovers.

Discover tranquil Cornwall and explore the thought-provoking exhibits at Tate. With constantly changing exhibits, a trip to Tate St. Ives is a voyage of discovery every time you visit! The staff are always happy to discuss the exhibits and share their knowledge of the artists and pieces. The gallery also has an artist residence program to help develop artists who live and work in Cornwall.

While you explore the exhibit, make sure to look out the semi-circular windows to gaze out over the splendid views of the Cornish coastline. Climb up to the rooftop café to see some of the best views over St. Ives and along the coast. Admire the Cornish cottages and majestic shoreline that extends as far as the eye can see.

You can also combine your visit with a trip to the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, which is just a ten minute walk up the road. Enjoy both for a fine art day out! If you want to continue exploring St. Ives, why not take the Ben Nicholson multimedia trail, which provides a walking tour of St. Ives from an artist’s perspective.
