Frequently described as one of the most romantic castles in England, Leeds Castle is more than deserving of its accolades. Originally built in 1119, it is designed to take advantage of its impressive location. Surrounded by a large, lake-like moat, entering the Leeds Castle grounds will take your breath away. Once you enter the castle, you can catch a glimpse of the impressive history that oozes from the very walls. It has been home to six of England’s queens, including Catherine of Aragon, and is now one of the most visited historic buildings in the UK! Wander through the castle to discover its collection of art, furniture, armour, and weapons. Don’t forget to look up to admire the impressive gothic doorways! For a quirky end to your castle tour, stop by the dog collar museum – it’s probably the only one in the world!

A trip to Leeds Castle is not complete without exploring the grounds. With more than 500 acres of parkland, there is something for everyone to discover! Full of exotic birds, you can see everything from peacocks to rare black swans. You can tour the grounds on segways to discover the vineyards and everything else Leeds Castle has to offer! Try your hand at falconry, or explore the yew maze and grotto which is made up of 2,400 trees. Get the best view of Leeds Castle from the air; hot air balloon rides are offered all year around!

The children’s activity area includes a climbing frame, adventure playground, and fort. Adults can relax at one of the cafes on the grounds, or stop for ice cream. Leeds Castle also features an 18-hole golf course for dads hoping to squeeze in a round.
