This municipal art gallery and museum is steeped in history inside and out. Look for the building at the end of the cobbled street in early neo-classical style. This 1660 house retains many of its original features, including a carved wooden staircase. The exquisite panelling and decorative plaster ceilings are much fine art as the Guildford’s Borough Collection is!

The collection itself contains more than 550 pieces and collected works. Spanning more than 250 years, there is something here to entice everyone. From oil paintings and watercolours to ceramics and sculpture, the plethora of different medias keeps every eye engaged! The exhibitions are constantly changing to offer visitors everything from arts and craft shows to workshops and talks. Guildford House Gallery will be a different visit every time you come!

Because most of the works in the collection were created by local artists and people with a strong connection to Guildford, a visit to this gallery is a must-do when visiting Surrey. Get into character in this classic setting and stop by the café for a local treat. Guildford House Gallery is also the perfect place to pick up a memento of you visit – the gift shop is stocked with work by local artists and craftspeople. If you’ve still got a craving for more great art, stop by Brew House Gallery, which is located above the craft shop. See up-and-coming artists from around the country. Maybe you’ll discover the next great artist!
