Bowood House and Gardens is the perfect place for a family day out. Children can frolic on the life-size pirate ship; jump on the trampolines; slide down the gigantic slides; climb rope-walks; and even try a space dive! Bowood is famous for having one of the best adventure parks in England that everyone is sure to enjoy. Younger children can also explore their very own play area that includes a ball pit and swing boat.  There is also a soft play place where children can play on rope bridges, slides, and much more!

Take a trip to Bowood House for a look at stunning 18th century architecture that has been beautifully maintained. There is a series of exhibition rooms of the family’s heirlooms that feature costumes, jewellery, and paintings to feast your eyes on. The home of the Marquis and Marchioness of Lansdowne, you can discover the laboratory where Dr. Joseph Priestley discovered oxygen in 1774 or Queen Victoria’s wedding chair. See Napolean’s death mask and explore the great history that this stunning home has to offer!

Arguably Bowood’s best feature, the gardens were designed by Capability Brown and span more than 100 acres. Named the Pleasure Grounds for obvious reasons, the generous grounds span nearly every style of English gardening since Georgian times. There is a remarkable arboretum, which includes nearly 1,000 identified trees within the estate. A special treat is visiting the Rhododendron Walk, which covers more than 60 acres. Stroll around the great lake for a relaxing afternoon and try to find the hidden waterfall.

If you’re here for a long weekend, stay at Bowood’s very own hotel for an intimate portrait into life at the estate, or stop by the golf course and spa for a day of relaxation!
