Deep within the Cairngorms National Park, resting on the banks of the winding River Dee, resides magnificent Balmoral Castle, private residence of Her Majesty, the Queen.

Balmoral Castle was a gift from Prince Albert to Queen Victoria in the late 1800’s. The original castle was demolished and replaced by the one that exists today. The grounds are beautiful and a fantastic example of the varied landscapes that are typical of the Cairngorms. There are numerous woodland areas, mountain ranges, and open fields, as well as rivers and lakes that all combine to create the most idyllic of locations, certainly fit for royalty.

The castle and grounds are the personal property of the Queen and are not a part of the Crown Estate. Prince Charles and other members of the royal family take a keen interest in maintaining the castle and particularly its grounds.

Not only is there plenty of breathtaking scenery to take in, but Balmoral Castle provides great entertainment for its visitors! Guests will have the opportunity to go on a luxury safari in a Landrover around the grounds to view the Scottish wildlife in its natural habitat.
