Visit a tropical haven just outside Sheffield and wander amongst fluttering butterflies, colourful birds, and quirky Egyptian fruit bats. They all reside in the hot and humid rainforest, lush with vegetation.

Look out for regiments of leaf cutter ants who work through the heat of the day, carrying loads that weigh multiple times their own body weight. Iguanas might be hard to spot as they hide shyly behind leaves, but look carefully and you might just spot one sitting very still! See all these creatures and more in the butterfly house!

If you are into creepy crawlies and mini-beasts then grab the opportunity to get up and close and personal with caterpillars, snakes, insects and glow in the dark scorpions!

Meerkat Mansion houses the centre’s resident meerkats. You can spoil them with a pot of mealworms and watch their antics from specially constructed viewing areas bringing you into their habitat.

See something a little different in the bird of prey section, as you take a seat and watch the expert handlers fly these majestic birds. Gasp in amazement as Black Kites and Harris Hawks fly millimetres above your head. Don’t forget to meet Bonnie and Alfie, a pair of spectacular green winged macaws!
