Visit the beautiful Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens and marvel at the fine collection of historical artefacts and a spectacular array of plants and flowers!

Sunderland Museum is the most visited museum outside of London and for good reason too!  The Winter Gardens houses an impressive collection of over 2,000 plants, flowers, and trees, which work together to give one of the most spectacular displays anywhere in the UK.

The museum has been open since 1846 and has been extended, bombed and rebuilt a number of times over the years. And it’s not just a museum! There is also a large art gallery with numerous Victorian pieces, as well as a collection of artworks from L.S. Lowry who fell in love with the city. The museum also hosts various temporary exhibitions throughout the year, making for a brand new collection every time you visit!
