JORVIK is the perfect mix of education and fun for a day out for the whole family! Visit an ancient Viking archaeological site where over 40,000 genuine Viking artefacts were unearthed.

Located in York, the centre is based in the York Coppergate shopping centre, a collection of shops contained within ancient city walls. Built upon a genuine archaeological Viking settlement, the museum offers an authentic insight into Viking history.

Visitors to the museum will get to walk around the 10th century Viking-age buildings, as well as replica streets. The tour is so real that you will even discover the typical sights, smells, and sounds of a Viking settlement!

Housing an impressive collection of authentic artefacts, JORVIK is the place to go for any Viking enthusiast. You will have the chance to watch coins being forged in the old Viking tradition and you’ll even get to examine an old Viking’s bones! Find out what he ate for dinner and how he died!

Don’t be fooled by the four Viking ghosts that live in the Artefacts Alive exhibition. They’re just waiting to catch you unawares!

The JORVIK Viking Centre is the place to visit if you’re a history lover.  Once you’ve seen all of the 10,000+ artefacts, find yourself a souvenir to take home from the gift shop!
