Closer, and much cheaper than the Alps! Halifax Ski Centre, situated between Manchester and Leeds, has a Snowflex slope for skiing close to home! Snowflex is a material that provides an experience as close to snow as you will get, without scooting off to Chamonix.

The slope is a great place for skiers to practise their techniques, as well jumps and boxes for snowboarders to get their practise in. The main slope at Halifax is said to be the best artificial freestyle ski slope in the UK, allowing skiers to practise bump skiing down the moguls. With 150 metres to swoop down, and two lifts to tow you back up to the top, you will forget all about the snowy Alps in no time!

There’s a beginner’s slope for novices who want to pick up the sport from scratch. Put yourself in the capable hands of one of their qualified ski instructors, and work hard to get onto that main slope!

If after a long day of skiing you are in need of something to sip on and a hearty meal, head to The Sportsman Inn. It’s a very real pub selling authentic local ales and some excellent food for you to tuck into!
